- Check the weather: a dry stretch with mild temperatures, no rain for at least a day after the last coat, and no direct midday sun on the section you are painting.
- Wash: scrub with a mild detergent and water, rinse well, and treat any mildew. Let it dry completely.
- Prime only if needed: sound vinyl usually does not need primer. Use one made for vinyl if the surface is chalky or the paint label calls for it.
